How to care for your young adult cat
Once your feline companion is over 3 years of age, he is in his prime and for him to remain healthy it is your duty as a pet parent to make sure he is not overweight. Unhealthy weight management leads to serious health issues like obesity, heart diseases, diabetes and arthritis.
If your cat is overweight, there will be regular wearing and tearing of joints. Cats often fall prey to arthritis as a result of age, trauma or infection. It makes good sense to consider giving your cat a carbohydrate free raw or canned food, with your vet’s approval, in order to effectively manage his weight. He also needs to be dewormed regularly to keep his immune system healthy and sickness at bay. Parasite control is also very important at this stage as most cats are still keen on hunting.
Your pet also requires a regular wellness exam and vaccinations administered by the vet to ensure he stays healthy and happy.
Happy parenting!
