Benefits of swimming for dogs
Swimming is a wonderful exercise that helps not only you but your furry buddy stay in shape. It provides a full body workout and helps in better cardiac functioning, toning and strengthening of muscles and weight loss in obese dogs.
With summer fast approaching there is nothing like chilling out in the pool with your four legged buddy. Most dogs are natural swimmers but some are not and require teaching. So, dogs who cannot swim can be made to wear a life jacket which will help them to enjoy water activities. Once your dog takes to swimming you can introduce balls and other floating objects for them to play in the pool.
Apart from swimming being a great time for bonding and exercise for your pet it also helps them to relax and release their excess energy which would otherwise lead to negative and destructive behaviour. Dogs that suffer from arthritis, stroke, paralysis, muscle degeneration, orthopedic surgery, hip and elbow dysplasia benefit from swimming.
If you plan to take your pet for a swim it is always a good idea to take guidance and advice from your dog trainer or vet.
Happy parenting!
