Why do dogs have wet nose?
If there is one person in the world whom you would not mind poking their nose in your business, it is your dog! There’s nothing quite like your pooch’s wet nose adorably sniffing at you to investigate what you have been up to.
Dogs’ noses are usually wet because they secrete mucus which helps them pick up scents better. They also tend to lick their snouts a lot in order to clean them and to pick up the scent chemicals absorbed by the mucus. The moisture coming from a dog’s nose is also a way of cooling themselves. Besides, some dogs just naturally have wetter noses!
You might have come across the myth that a dry nose is an indication of illness in dogs. However, the moisture level of your dog’s nose can fluctuate due to different reasons, like the temperature outside. Besides, dogs, can be sick despite having a cold wet nose. Instead, keeping an eye on the kind of discharge from your dog’s nose can help you track signs of sickness better.
