Puppy Handling tips
A puppy needs to be handled very gently as they can easily be hurt. Children and other members of the family need to be trained on how to carry them to avoid injuries and unfortunate mishaps.
Here are a few tips on how to handle a puppy:
- Place your hand under the puppy’s chest to lift him. You can use your forearm now to pick him up.
- As he is lifted up place your other hand to support his hind legs and rump.
- As he is lifted up make sure you continue to support his chest and rump. Hold him close to your body and not away so that he does not wriggle his way out of your arms.
- When you are putting him down make sure you continue to support his chest and rump. Make sure you do not drop him down rashly but gently lower him to the floor.
- Do not grab the puppy by the forelegs, back of the neck or tail as it would lead to injury.
