Soon, you can leave your dog’s walk to a drone
Weird as it may sound, pray that this promise by a United Kingdom-based drone maker becomes a reality soon. Here is a gadget to relieve you of your responsibility to walk your dog day in and day out. It will enable hands-free walking of your dog. The artificial intelligence-powered drone will boast GPS tracking capability, what’s more, and you can preset your dog’s walking route in it while lounging out!
The curiously named DJI Phantom 4 Dog Drone would cost $2,590 in the retail market, when it sees the light of the day. The company behind the innovative product for pet owners, Drones Direct, assures that you can pre-programme any route of your choice through your mobile phone. It is also touted to be designed to bring your dog back home safe.
Apart from its other claims, Drones Direct says that it has installed built-in collision avoidance and automated altitude ability. These features are said to be fool-proof in letting the flying dog drone easily navigate obstacles along the way. There, however, is no working model in view yet, barring a few artistic impressions.
But the company representatives are extremely optimistic about its scope, feasibility, and, in fact, market availability. Mark Kelly, marketing manager at Drones Direct, has said, “Following the success of our Cat Drone, we didn’t feel it was fair to forget our canine friends. The launch of the innovative Dog Drone is a great alternative for pet owners who lead busy lives by giving the option of hands-free walking.”
This handy piece of tech means dogs have a companion by their side whilst getting the exercise and enjoying the fresh outdoor air they so desperately need on a daily basis, is the company’s tall claim. There are, of course, several practical hurdles to be addressed before the actual product hits the store shelves.
